#BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT REVIEW SERIES#
This is the first time that a game in the series has completely taken place in Gotham City.
One of my favorite gameplay mechanics added for this game is a little spoiler-y, so I’m going to save that for when I dive into the spoiler parts of the game. I mean come on, he’s known as the “world’s greatest detective.” The fact that there’s actually an entire side quest line that revolves around the detective gameplay was pleasing.īats and Robin rocking the New 52 DLC suits It feels like a very Batman-like experience. Piecing together crime scenes was something I enjoyed in the last game and given that Origins wasn’t developed by Rocksteady, it was something that they didn’t have to bring over to their games. The upgrades that you can utilize during combat like shocking or using the explosive spray on multiple enemies simultaneously is very satisfying.Īn aspect I was happy to see implemented into the game was the detective gameplay from Arkham Origins. Arkham Knight again improves upon a nearly perfect formula and makes the hand-to-hand combat even more enjoyable. This series sets the bar for brawler combat. The Arkham series has always been known for quality combat. For some, I can see them being quite frustrating, but being the big racing game fan that I am, I absolutely loved them.
#BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT REVIEW TRIAL#
What would a game with the Batmobile be if there weren’t some time trial events involved? Pretty early in the Riddler side missions you get to test out what the Batmobile can do on some very unique courses. You can get some serious air if you have the right upgrades. One of the most satisfying things to do in the Batmobile was to get it going fast and then eject out and just glide.
If you work towards a 100 percent completion, the missions tend to lean a little more towards the tank battle side, and I thought it would have been a little more fun if they had put in more of the chase battles instead. The game gives you plenty of opportunities to drive it balls to the wall or to use it in more tank-like battles. I was a little surprised just how well it handled and played given that it’s a big change from the other games. There are some times where it feels a little forced, but overall the missions and gameplay are done incredibly well for it. Of course, the big new addition to this entry in the series is the Batmobile. Not only are the games great for your average gamer, but if you’re a fan of Batman comics, it’s incredibly satisfying to see the stories, characters and little Easter eggs they put into the games.īefore we dive into the main story and all of the side villains and Easter eggs that show up, let’s talk about the non-spoilery aspects of the game like gameplay mechanics, the game world, and how the game looks. One of my many favorite things about the Batman Arkham series is that the games actually feel like you’re playing through the comic books themselves. I need to get this out of the way right away… Batman: Arkham Knight is amazing. The Batman Arkham series has always been intriguing, not only because it’s been great, but because it’s so rare these days that a licensed superhero game is actually worth playing.
